Tony Cadena, as it appears on the Adolescents self-titled album from 1981, has had quite an extensive career as a musician and front man for many awesome bands. The first as it was, a band that Tony started in junior high school in his garage which he played Tupperware and pots and pans, he also wrote the lyrics, it comes as no surprise that the band split up soon after. After some time spent growing up and maturing his musical tastes, he then started the Adolescents in 1979 with Steve Soto while they talked at the end of an Agent Orange gig. Tony stood with the Adolescents until the bands break up in 1981. He then moved on to bands called the Abandoned and Gods Riot T3 and then found himself playing in the Adolescents again in 1986 as Tony Montana when the band reformed. After leaving the Adolescents in 1987; Tony started the Flower Leperds. After a reunion in 1989 Tony went on to start another band in the Adolescents tradition called ADZ, which he is still in. Tony recently regrouped with the original band members for a 20 year reunion of the self-titled album.Aside from music Tony has a career in teaching, and for a period taught special education, children with autism in particular. Tony is currently teaching 3rd grade, although has taught junior high and High School, but prefers teaching the younger kids because "they aren't as jaded." In his spare time Tony writes poetry that has been described as being "hilarious or heartbreaking"; he last poetry reading was at the Parlour Club in Santa Monica on April 21, 2002. |
