ADOLESCENTS ROAD JOURNAL

Just thought id drop a quick line while i have a chance. We are currently in Reno Nevada right now, Joe and Frank Jr are asleep, and the rest of the gang is downstairs gambling. The past three days have been really cool. I took a few interesting pictures of the places we have been to. I haven't had the chance to edit them for the web, but when i do they will be up.

Ive been trying to get on the bands back to write a tour journal, but i dont think that is going to happen, so i just figured id start doing it myself. Ive been doing a lot of driving, it not a problem though, cause i like driving. We left Petaluma this morning, and listened to a live Kiss album for a while "does everyone here like to rock and roll?!?!"

Being the only guy in the car who is right to middle politically, i have been getting a lot of shit from everyone in the van. I think im gonna run the fan off a cliff if i get harassed anymore.

Anyhow, its all in good fun, and im enjoying the ribbing as much as they enjoy giving it. Comedy makes a long trip more enjoyable, and keeps everyone sane.

After three days of being on the road with these guys i really have grown to appreciate all the touring that they have done over the years, and how much work it really is. A good way to thank these guys for all their work is by going out to a show and having a good time.

We have a day off tomorrow before we head over to Boise Idaho. No particular reason i mention this, but i just felt like it.

Im looking forward to meeting the Baloney family when we go to Washington. They have so kindly offered to put us up for the night. I just need to talk to Steve to see if he hasnt already made reservations.

Joe is doing a rad job, and has only fucked up a couple of times. How embarrassing...I kid though. He is a great guitar player.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, the other night we almost ran out of gas on a dark highway in thick fog at 2 am. That was no bueno. Luckily we made it to a gas station on fumes.

Well, thats all i can think of for now. Ill add more as i can remember, and as time permits. This damn hotel internet is costing me 5.95 an hour..

FINGER RECORDS TO RELEASE

THE ADOLESCENTS

“O.C. CONFIDENTIAL” ON JULY 12, 2005

Orange County CA.  Punk Rock Legends to Celebrate their 25th Anniversary with North American Tour Beginning July 14th with First New Material Since 1988

Los Angeles, Calif., & Irvine, Calif., (June 24, 2005) – Finger Records announced today that one of Southern California’s best–loved punk bands, The Adolescents (www.theadolescents.net) will release “O.C. Confidential”, on July 12th, 2005. “O.C. Confidential” is The Adolescents first CD of new material since 1988’s “Balboa Fun Zone”.

To coincide with this release, The Adolescents will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a North American tour beginning July 14th in Boston, Ma. at Axis and ending on August 20th with a blowout hometown show at House of Blues - Anaheim. This is The Adolescents first national tour since 1989 and features a stop at the San Diego Street Scene in front of 60,000 in attendance on July 29th at Qualcomm Stadium. Tour dates are below.

“When I heard “O.C. Confidential”, I was blown away,” said Mel Schantz, owner of Finger Records. “Having seen the Adolescents live several times in the last year, I was already aware of how good the band still is today. The Adolescents play the music we all grew up on but when I realized that the songs on “O.C. Confidential” matched their classic older material, I knew we had to sign them.”

“O.C. Confidential” is The Adolescents fourth full-length release of new material since they formed in Fullerton, Calif. in 1980. In 1981, the band released their eponymous debut CD (also known as the ‘blue album’) on Frontier Records and along with Agent Orange and Social Distortion became crowd favorites of the burgeoning O.C. punk scene. ‘Amoeba’, the bands first single was prominently featured on noted DJ Rodney Bingenheimer’s compilation “Rodney on the Roq” and quickly established The Adolescents as fan favorites. According to All Music Guide, The Adolescents “helped establish the blueprint for Orange County punk’.

Since that time, the band has undergone various line-up changes and have recorded seminal releases like “Brats in Battalion” and have released archival recordings like “Complete Demos: 1980-1986”. In 2003, The Adolescents cemented their current line-up for “O.C. Confidential” and their 2005 summer tour. The Adolescents are: Tony Cadena on vocals, Steve Soto on bass, Frank Agnew on guitar, 18-year-old Frank Agnew Jr. on guitar and Derek O’Brien (Social Distortion) on drums.

As you might have noticed there's a lot going on around here. I gave the site a major overhaul, and hopefully the new color combinations will prevent me from having to increase the strength of my glasses again. There is still a lot that needs to be done;  this was just the first step. "OC Confidential" is still scheduled to be released in June By Kung Fu. For anyone who didn't go to the show last night at the El Ray, it was a blast! Check the Media section, we now have TABS thanks to Jeff.

Good news! The new album entitled "OC Confidential" will be released on Kung Fu Records in June of 2005. I know it has taken a long time for this album to set a release date, but the wait will make this album all the more sweet when it does come out. Also Steve Soto says that there is a Blue Album tribute in the works that will also be released on Kung Fu. NOFX, Bad Religion and Pennywise have already been confirmed. Look for a late spring 2005 release for this album.

SITE UPDATED - Greetings Creatures! Bob's back. Unfortunately, I did not find what I was looking for in the "Far East"... I'm willing to bet that there never was a house in New Orleans called the Rising Sun... oh well.

So how about some site updates, eh? Not too much to report right now, just added the lyrics to
Balboa*Funzone.
Cheers and beers! ~Bob

CD RELEASE INFO - The Adolescents are working on a collection of 1980 demos and rehearsals to be released at end of the year on Frontier records. That should be interesting. OC Confidential mixes are almost completed. The release for OC Confidential is announced for spring 2005. Don't ask why, just accept it.

THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW - A whole-hearted thank you goes to the Red Hot Chili Peppers who named the Adolecents as an influence in the July issue of MOJO. A CD with "LA Girl" is included with the issue. Yup... I bet you didn't know that. That is all. -Hwon

05.18.2004

You will all be pleased to find reviews for the most recent Adolescents shows, which took place in early October, as well as pictures from the Grisham for Governor Show taken by good ol' Lackass. It took so damn long to update because it was a lot of damn work.. and also 'cos the server wasn't letting me upload files or whatever. So there you have it folks: a shitload of Adolescents stuff, possibly more than you can handle... Enjoy! ~Bob.

10.17.2003

NEW ADS RECORD ON THE WAY - Tony, Steve, Frank and Rikk, and new drummer Derek O'Brien (Social Distortion, D.I.) are working on the new Adolescents album, which will probably be done by September. When finished, the band will start looking for a label to distribute the record. Possible labels include HellCat, Side One Dummy, and perhaps Nitro or Epitaph. Thanks to Frank for providing the info. Check back frequently for updates on the upcoming album.

EDITORIAL NOTE: Shoot for Nitro Records. It'll fuckin kick ass to have your album out on the same label as TSOL's and the Damned's. Good luck! ~Bob
